Use your nebulizer with _______________________(medication). Frequency _________________________________ Set-up 1. Attach tubing to outlet located on the nebulizer machine. 2. Attach other end of the tubing to the bottom of the nebulizer cup. 3. Assemble nebulizer cup - attach top to bottom, attach T to top, attach mouthpiece to T. 4. Optional - use mask in lieu of mouth piece. 5. Put medication into nebulizer cup. 6. Plug power cord into an electrical outlet and turn the machine on. A mist will appear. 7. Sit upright and breathe deeply a treatment should last 10 to 15 minutes. Use up all of the medication. 8. Patient/Caregiver demonstrates each step and has a solid understanding. 9. Review how to order supplies. When to order. Where to call. Cleaning 1. After each treatment rinse the nebulizer cup with warm water and allow to air dry. 2. Use a clean nebulizer cup every 24 hours. 3. After the last treatment of the day, wash each piece of the nebulizer cup in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. 4. Soak for 30 minutes in a mixture of 1 part vinegar and 4 parts water. Rinse well. Air dry. 5. Dispose of nebulizer cup after 2 weeks continuous use. 6. Change filter monthly or when discolored. Safety 1. Make sure to keep nebulizer cups clean. Have spare nebulizer cups available at all times. 2. Be sure to use a safe electrical outlet and no extension cords.
